About this model

A Bolide does not look like other hypercars. It looks like a Le Mans prototype that was allowed to keep its roof, and MINI GT's #1063 casting leans into that: the body is nearly all black with a bright blue break running from the nose over the front arches and along the shoulder, the glass is heavily tinted, and the rear is dominated by a blue wing sitting on top of an exposed diffuser. Nothing about the silhouette is soft.

At true 1/64 the numbers are modest. The real Bolide is a shade over 4.7 m, so the model runs about 7.3 cm long and stands roughly 2.0 cm to the top of the roof, with the wing rising slightly above that. The paint is a high-gloss black laid over a body with a lot of surface change — a deep scallop down each flank, channel vents behind the front wheels, a rear deck that steps down between the arches. In the gallery the blue reads as a saturated electric blue rather than a pale one, and it is used sparingly: a band across the nose, the wheel rim rings, the wing, and the small W16.4 marking on the rear deck.

Reading the shape up close

The front of the car is the part worth studying. There is no grille in the usual sense — just a wide, low intake under a short nose, with a horseshoe shape picked out in blue that marks where the Bugatti face would be. Above it, the bonnet carries a pair of channel recesses that run back toward the screen. The headlight graphics are thin and sit almost flat against the bodywork rather than bulging out of it, which is what gives the front its flat, blade-like look.

Along the side, the blue band lifts over the front arch and then straightens along the door before dropping toward the rear intake. The rear is where the model gets busy: the engine cover sits low between two tall haunches, the tail is cut off almost vertically, and the diffuser is a black multi-fin piece that extends well past the bodywork. The wing is mounted on slim uprights rather than a swan-neck, and its endplates carry the same blue as the nose band. It is a lot of shapes to reproduce at 7 cm, and the casting holds them.

Parking it in a 1/64 scene

A car this low and this long needs a flat, open base, not a tight street corner. The Industrial Double-Level Parking (819) at 40 x 22 x 16.2 cm gives you the longest flat surface in the catalogue and enough width to set the Bolide at an angle rather than square to the edge. The Japanese Slope Parking Lot (708) at 40.5 x 30 x 22 cm is the largest scene available and would let you stage it with two or three other hypercars around it, which is how a car like this usually gets displayed.

Height is not a consideration here. At around 2.0 cm tall the model clears every scene in the range, including the 10 cm interiors of the Lawson Storefronts and Parking (759) and the Old Warehouse Street View (795), both 19.7 x 10 x 10 cm. What does matter is the diffuser and the front splitter, which hang below the sills. On a scene with a raised kerb or a steep ramp, the overhangs are the parts that will catch.

What the pack looks like, and how to treat the car

The gallery shows this one on a printed card inside a clear blister as well as in the MINI GT colour box, and the card carries the MINI GT mark with a Bugatti Bolide Prototype title block and a blue-and-black background image of the car. Whichever pack you receive, the model inside is already assembled — no parts to fit, no decals to apply, no stand.

Handle it as a display object rather than a toy. It is a static model and is not suitable for children under 14. The two things to watch are the front splitter and the rear diffuser, both of which sit below the rest of the car and will take the weight if the model is set down on anything uneven. Put it down flat, and pick it up with a thumb and finger under the sills rather than by the wing.

Gift Angle

This is a gift for someone who likes the idea of a hypercar more than the idea of a racing car. The Bolide is not a car anyone has watched race, so the appeal is entirely about shape and engineering — which makes it a good present for someone who follows car design, reads about aero, or has a favourite manufacturer and a strong opinion about it. Handing over a 7 cm version of a car they have only ever seen in renders tends to land well.

It also suits a recipient who wants one object on a desk rather than a collection. The black-and-blue scheme is restrained enough to sit next to a keyboard without looking like a toy, and the tinted glass means it does not invite being picked apart. If you are buying for a collector who already has a 1/64 row, this is a strong addition because the shape is unlike anything else in a typical lineup — there is nothing else in the range that looks like a Bolide.

Frequently asked questions

Can you see the engine through the rear deck?

No. The engine cover is a solid closed panel with moulded surface detail, and there is no opening panel on this casting.

Is the cockpit interior visible?

Barely. The canopy glass is heavily tinted, so the interior reads as a dark shape rather than as seats and a dashboard you can examine.

Do the doors open?

No. This is a sealed casting. The doors, bonnet and engine cover are all fixed.

What colour is the model exactly?

A high-gloss black body with electric blue accents on the nose band, the wing, the rear deck marking and the wheel rim rings.

Will the wing arrive intact?

It is the widest point of the model, so check the uprights and endplates when you unpack it. The sealed packaging holds the car in place during transit.

Does it need a display case?

It does not come with one. Because the splitter and diffuser sit low, a case with a flat floor is a better choice than an open shelf if you want to avoid dust settling into the fins.
