About this model

The most noticeable thing about MINI GT's #1370 Lamborghini GT3 EVO2 is not the big DEX wordmark running down the flank. It is the pair of bright green wing endplates sitting above a black swan-neck rear wing, with matching green mirror caps, breaking up an otherwise black, white and red colour scheme. That green is the part of the DEX Huracán GT3 that stays with you, and MINI GT has placed it where it belongs.

The casting is true 1/64. A GT3 Huracán is roughly 4.6 m long, so the model lands at about 7.2 cm from the front splitter to the trailing edge of the wing, with a roof height of around 2.0 cm. The wing endplates are the highest point of the model, sitting just above the roof line. Finish is gloss throughout: a black bonnet and front clip with moulded louvred vents, a white-to-silver rear half carrying a dark camouflage-style graphic panel, and red pinstriping tracing the splitter, the sills and the leading edge of the bonnet.

The livery is doing most of the work

Number 45 sits in a green square on the door with a WeatherTech block beneath it. DEX is printed large in white with a red outline across the door and rear quarter, then repeated smaller on the bonnet. The dark graphic panel over the rear flank is a good decision — it breaks up the white rear section without introducing a fourth colour, and it gives the eye somewhere to travel when the car is viewed from behind at shelf height.

What you end up with is a model that reads from a distance. The three colours separate cleanly, the number is large enough to identify across a room, and the green accents give the silhouette a second focal point beyond the rear wing. That matters more than it sounds. A racing car on a shelf is usually seen from about a metre away, and a livery that only resolves when you lean in never resolves at all.

What it looks like in a 1/64 scene

This is a race car, so it belongs on pit, paddock or garage ground rather than a street corner. The Container Auto Repair Garage (598) at 29.7 x 19.7 x 14.5 cm has an enclosed workshop footprint that suits a car sitting in for a tyre change. The Industrial Double-Level Parking (819) at 40 x 22 x 16.2 cm gives you the longest flat run in the catalogue and works well for a row of GT3 cars parked nose to tail. If you want a smaller base, the Japanese Parking Lot (855) at 29.5 x 19.8 x 12 cm takes the car comfortably and still leaves room for a second model beside it.

Height is never the constraint. At roughly 2.0 cm tall, the Huracán clears the 10 cm interior clearance of the smallest scenes here — the Lawson Storefronts and Parking (759) and the Old Warehouse Street View (795), both 19.7 x 10 x 10 cm — with plenty of margin. The real constraint is footprint. A car with a wing this wide wants a base long enough that the endplate is not hanging over the edge of the scene.

How it arrives and how it handles

It comes sealed in a colour box, with the model already built. Nothing needs assembling, nothing needs decals applied, and there is no stand in the carton. Take it out, set it down, and it is finished. The body is a sealed casting: no doors, bonnet or engine cover opens, so the model is a solid object rather than a kit of moving panels, and that is exactly what keeps the shut lines tight on a car this small.

Treat it as a display object. It is not suitable for children under 14, and the wing, the splitter and the mirror stalks are the parts most likely to suffer if the car is picked up by anything other than the body. Lift it with two fingers under the sills. Dust it with a soft brush rather than a cloth, because the gloss black shows any smear.

Gift Angle

This is a gift for someone who follows sports car racing and has run out of shelf space for full-size memorabilia. A Huracán GT3 in a specific team livery is a very particular thing to want, and it is the sort of model that gets recognised instantly by the person it is meant for — the green endplates give it away before they have picked it up. It also works for someone who has a desk at work and wants one car on it that is not a toy.

Buy it for a birthday or a Christmas rather than a general occasion, because the price sits in the middle of the range rather than at the bottom. It arrives in its own box, so it needs no wrapping beyond the outer carton, and the sealed packaging means it can sit in a drawer for months before being opened. If the recipient already collects 1/64 race cars, this slots into an existing row without a conversation about scale.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same casting as the other MINI GT Huracán GT3 releases?

Yes. It is the same GT3 EVO2 casting used across MINI GT's Huracán releases, with this car's specific DEX livery and number 45 applied on top.

Will the rear wing survive shipping?

The car ships in its sealed box with the model secured inside. Check the wing endplates when you open it, because they are the most exposed part of the casting.

Do the wheels turn?

The wheels are fitted on axles and can be rotated by hand. The front wheels do not steer, so the car sits straight ahead the way a static display model does.

Is the livery painted or printed?

Printed. The DEX wordmark, the number, the sponsor blocks and the pinstriping are tampo-printed onto the gloss body rather than painted as separate panels.

Can I read the small sponsor decals?

Only up close, and not all of them. At this scale the fine print in the sponsor stack is simplified, so treat the smaller logos as shapes that suggest the real thing.

Does it fit a 1/64 display case?

It fits any case sized for true 1/64 cars, but check the internal width, because the rear wing is wider than the body at the rear arches.
